To this day, the ESD test is still documented with a signature in many cases. This creates unnecessary and additional work for the ESD representative due to the manual archiving of the lists, at the same time this system is not tamper-proof and no longer recognized by many companies as proof of the test. In order to meet these increasingly complex requirements, we have developed the new ESD personal grounding tester, the EPA Gatekeeper®. The EPA Gatekeeper® is a completely in-house development "Made in Germany".
By the proximity sensor, the device wakes up automatically when a user moves up. If no further measurement is carried out, the device switches back to stand-by mode. The stand-by mode saves energy and at the same time ensures a long lifetime for the display. Due to the great influence of temperature and humidity on the ESD measurement, these parameters are also monitored by the built-in sensors and archived in the measurement data for each measurement.
The front of the device is equipped with high quality stainless steel buttons on both sides. The arrangement of the buttons enables ergonomic operation for left and right-handers. The measurement starts when one of the two stainless steel touch surfaces is touched. The connections made of solid stainless steel on the front of the device allow the check of the wrist strap according to the current standards. All three connections are connected to one another equally. This also ensures a long lifetime, especially for measuring and testing instruments that are in daily use.
The built-in multifunction card reader reads all common RFID technologies. This enables customers to use existing RFID chips / cards. The RFID reader always reads the UID as the primary ordinal number. Adjustments to read out other ordinal numbers are possible on request.
With the unique halo light effect, the EPA gatekeeper stands out from the crowd. There is nothing comparable from any other manufacturer. The red or green power LEDs on the back of the device provide additional visual indication of the measurement results. This extends the action beyond the screen of the EPA gatekeeper. The light is projected onto the mounting surface of the device.
The individual EPA gatekeepers in the network are accessed via the integrated web server. Administrative settings can be made in the web server, such as uploading a user database or creating a network share for data storage. In addition, the web server enables a view of the current measurement history of all devices present in the network. The web server thus offers convenient access to important functions directly from the workstation. Of course, these settings can also be made directly on the device.
The EPA Gatekeeper enables network operation without additional server software. Up to 64 devices form an independent network and synchronise their data with each other. In addition, the net+ LiveData device variant offers an integrated MQTT client for real-time synchronisation with external databases. The plug & play concept and the fact that no additional server software is required allows quite independent operation from the rest of the IT environment. IT updates at the customer's site therefore have no effect on the functions and operation of the EPA Gatekeeper. The installation of the devices in the network is also kept as simple as possible.
The user interface is self-explanatory and multilingual. The user is shown all information on the screen via simple pictograms and animations. Events are also signaled optically and acoustically. This means that there are no language barriers among the individual users, and visitors and employees from other countries also know immediately what to do
We were also guided by our “Made in Germany” conviction when planning the EPA gatekeeper. Starting with the development, through the procurement of the individual components, to the production of the gatekeeper, it is our intention to bring everything from our country, the south of Germany.
The high-quality accessories of the EPA gatekeeper round off the total package. The brushed stainless steel contact surfaces are flush with the footwear electrode. There are three cable ducts (left, center, right) on the back of the electrode for adapted cable routing. The aesthetic housing offers all the requirements for modern operation by the user. The user can decide for himself whether he wants to use the device as table or wall mounting. This ensures ergonomically suitable Operation.
The calibrator is used to easily calibrate the EPA GATEKEEPER. The calibrator adheres to the touch plate of the device via magnets. Only one device is required to calibrate the resistance measurement and the measurement voltage. The calibration process can be carried out without having to reconnect the measuring lines. The calibrator enables automatic calibration for all measuring voltage ranges. The EPA Gatekeeper will guide you through the calibration.

The foot specially developed for the EPA gatekeeper is used for flexible placement of the EPA gatekeeper in your production area. The post is made of powder-coated steel and stands on a cast iron base plate for a stable stand. The cables run through the post to the shoe electrode. In addition, we offer a floor mat to let in the foot and the shoe electrode, so that there are no tripping hazards. The ESD floor mats are made of high quality polyurethane and Made in Germany. If your company does not use own RFID tags, our associated EPA gatekeeper RFID tags can be used for authentication at the EPA Gatekeeper.
